Dr Sorrel Sørensen
I graduated from Glasgow University, Scotland in 1998 and initially directed my interest toward ophthalmology training. After a couple of years, I moved my focus toward general practice, completing the London Royal College specialist examinations in 2004.
I combined work in general practice with urgent care in the local hospitals, training in palliative care in the main city hospice, as well as many years training and experience in all aspects of facial rejuvenation and non-surgical aesthetics. Prior to moving from the UK, I trained in the field of substance misuse, completing the Post Graduate Certificates in this subspecialty, working for several years in the secure environment. I lived and worked in Norway for two years prior to moving to Australia. I was awarded the Australian Fellowship in 2017 and my family settled here in Cairns in 2018.
I have a broad and extensive experience across the field of family medicine and I am happy to consult on all aspects of general practice. I enjoy taking on the whole family from antenatal to paediatric care and on to the broad range of men’s and women’s health (including contraceptive support and treatments), through to care for the elderly and management of chronic disease.
