Immunising your child from an early age is highly recommended and helps protect them against serious childhood infections, some of which may be life-threatening. Vaccinations need to occur on time for the best protection for your child. For the Queensland Immunisation Schedule, click here.
If your child’s vaccinations are overdue your child is not fully protected, even if in the past they were up-to-date. However, if your child missed their scheduled vaccinations, a catch-up schedule should be able to get them up-to-date. Contact your GP to plan your child’s immunisation schedule or catch up vaccinations.
Unfortunately, there are still instances of children contracting vaccination-preventable diseases, as in the case of this anti-vaxxer mum who now urges vaccinations after her child contracted whooping cough. Watch the full story here.
